She gave this name to the Lord who spoke to her: “You are the God who sees me,” for she said, “I have now seen the One who sees me.”

Genesis 16:13 NIV

Do you know how the Igbo people of Nigeria say “I love you”?

“a hụrụ m gị n’anya” is the Igbo phrase for “I love you”

The literal meaning of “a hụrụ m gị n’anya” however is “I see you in my eyes”

Sometimes, to truly love someone, we must see them.

Humans are good at pretending, all of us.
We hide stuffs and we put up an act,
or a show

To truly see someone is to see beyond what they say or don’t say, to see beyond their pretence…

To see past their smiles and laughter, to the disappointment, pain and heartache they hide from everyone else…

Hagar said, “You are the God who sees me,”

And then she said, “I have now seen the One who sees me.”

God sees you,
all that you are,
all that you ever want to be
Hopes, dreams, doubts, scars
Hurt, fears, faith, heart

God sees you,
so that you can see Him
